I've been wanting a pup for a while, but Mark always reminds me to think logically... i.e. we don't have a house yet; we need to live in our house for a while; we really shouldn't spend our money on that right now.
But when my sister, Gina, called to tell him the exact puppy he'd always wanted was in the paper for cheap, he gave in. And from there we decided our little guy needed a sister.
So, now we have a short-haired miniature dachshund named "Zack", and a chihuahua/terrier mix named "Isabelle" (Izzy). They were born the same day (November 26th), and they fell in love almost immediately.
Potty training is a TOUGH job. Especially when we're gone during the day. Izzy is picking up on it pretty fast, but Zack is still completely 100% clueless. He just thinks we're being mean making him sit outside in the cold and hides by our feet.
We ended up with a bit of a circus here on Saturday when Jason and Hannah came over to hang, and their husky "Gunner" got to meet our new twins. Izzy was terrifed of her, but Zack was ready to brawl with the big dogs. Gunner did really well being gentle, especially considering she's still a pup herself.
We played "Rock Band" with them, and it was really fun. Actually now I'm wondering if we need to get "Guitar Hero" at all, since you can play all kinds of instruments with the band.
Other than that, life is pretty steady eddy. We're going to Lutsen this weekend with a group of friends, so Gina graciously agreed to stay at our place with the pups. She's bringing my nephew, Gabe, and her little dog, Lucy. I think it's good for puppies to be exposed to other people and other dogs while they're little. Hopefully she can keep up with the madness.
